What I Learned Using Superpower.com for Blood Testing

What I Learned Using Superpower.com for Blood Testing (and Why It Might Help Your Training Too)

I’ve always believed in tracking what you can track. Training numbers, how you feel walking up the stairs, how well you’re sleeping—simple things give you clues about your health. But sometimes those clues aren’t enough, and you want to know what’s actually happening under the hood. That’s why I decided to try the blood testing service through Superpower.com.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. These companies are popping up everywhere, and some make big promises. But I wanted real data, not another trendy “health hack,” and this seemed like a straightforward way to get it.

The Process Was Surprisingly Easy

The first thing I noticed was how simple the whole thing was. You create your account, pick your panel, schedule the draw, and you’re done. The interface was clean and didn’t make me feel like I needed a degree in tech to figure out what button to click next.

There were a few add-ons they offered during sign-up. Nothing pushy, but enough to make me pause and think, “Do I really need all that?” I stuck with the standard testing, which already includes 100+ biomarkers, and honestly that felt like more than enough.

Once I got to the appointment, the blood draw was quick. The phlebotomist knew exactly what they were doing, which always helps. I’ve had labs done in places where you leave feeling like a pincushion—this was not that.

The Value in Seeing the Full Picture

When the results came back, that’s when the “Oh wow, this actually matters” moment hit. You get a full snapshot—vitamins, minerals, inflammation markers, hormones, cholesterol, liver function, thyroid, the whole deal.

As someone who trains consistently and talks a lot about managing stress, protein, conditioning, and recovery, it was nice to see what my body was doing behind the scenes. Some numbers were exactly where I expected. Others made me do some research.

Seeing everything laid out made it easier to connect the dots. Looking at my whole body. Also full disclosure I hadn’t been to a doctor or had my blood work take since early 2020.

This is the kind of stuff we talk about at OC all the time—your body adapts to stress, but you need to know which direction it’s adapting. If you missed it, our blog on Why We Train for Optimal Condition explains how those training principles tie into overall health.

Where It Really Becomes Useful: Retesting

Superpower uses a yearly membership model, which gives you access to repeated labs at a much lower cost. That’s actually the part that makes the biggest difference. One test is interesting. But seeing trends, especially after you make changes? That’s where a person can see if the changes implemented are paying off.

Let’s say you bump up your protein, clean up your bedtime routine, and stay consistent with Zone 2 work. If you retest in three to six months, you see what truly shifted. Training gets better when you pair it with feedback. That’s why we track strength numbers, conditioning benchmarks, and body composition in the gym. This is the same idea, just internal.

A Few Things to Know Before You Try It

If you’re considering testing, a few tips might help:

  • Go in with a purpose. Don’t just test for the sake of curiosity.
  • Think about what you want answered—energy? recovery? metabolism?
  • Have a plan for what you’ll do with the results.
  • Don’t expect lifestyle changes to show up overnight.

And remember, the numbers don’t mean much unless they lead to action. This is why pairing data with coaching or accountability makes such a difference. You start making choices that actually reflect the health outcomes you want.

Final Thoughts

Using Superpower.com didn’t magically fix my training or nutrition, but it definitely gave me more clarity. And when you’re trying to juggle work, family, training, and everything else life throws at you, clarity is underrated.

If you want to understand your body better—and train in a way that supports long-term health instead of just today’s workout—blood testing can be a really helpful tool.

And if you want support building a plan around the data, or you simply need a solid place to train with great coaching and a community that cares, we’re here for you.
