Week 2 of the 2019 CrossFit Open(19.2)
The exciting 2nd week of The CrossFit Open 2019:
Brought us a repeat workout from the 2016 CrossFit Open(or close enough – same movements – just a different time component). The workout was with a running 8 minute close complete 25 Toes to Bar, 50 Double Unders, 15 squat cleans, 25 T2B, 50 Double Unders, 13 squat clean cleans – if you complete this work before the 8 minute timer you continued working(lucky you!). The workout finished at 20 minutes with 7 squat cleans at 315.
How it went down at OC:
First, we have to discuss the week we had. Bend had the biggest snowfall in the past 118 years in the month of February which caused for the first time in almost 10 years of OC being open us to cancel some classes and shorten the schedule for a few days. There just wasn’t a way to keep up with the snow. After the week that we had, and a lot of shoveling(Thank you to Skyler Rambel, Ralph Lewis, Kris Smith, Brant Babich, among others) who provided equipment, time, energy and muscle in helping us get some parking spaces cleared out so that everyone could come in and complete the Open.
In regards to the workout:
The T2B were the dividing factor for some but we did have some firsts in a single T2B as well as some first of stringing multiple reps in a row. Personal Records are great – but equally important is the information you gain by not completing something you thought you would or wished you would. Double unders similar to T2B saw some records being set and those who struggled more than we had hoped with the D/U – but again important information to learn and progress from. All positive feedback if we implement a plan to address the root causes.
For those people who were around for the CrossFit Open 2016:
They were able to tackle the workout in a little different format and challenge themselves against their former times and rep totals. These little “tests” are great to ensure your path of physical fitness is headed the correct direction. The Open is great for these types of progress reports.

Points for this week:
1 point for participating in the workout. A point for having crazy socks. 1 point(unannounced prior) judging someone/or being on the pit crew(changing weights) while they completed the workout. If you are not on the scoreboard but want to jump in this week please let us know – the more the merrier! Please note if you miss Friday night – we won’t count your points but your still welcome to utilize Open Gym and complete the workout if you can talk one of your friends into judging you!
