Specific goals tailored to individual needs
Many people make the mistake of setting generic goals like “lose weight” or “get in shape.” Without specificity, it’s challenging to know what exactly you’re working toward. At OC we want to meet with all of our members quarterly to ensure we are setting goals that have a measurable result.
Start by identifying what you want to achieve precisely. Instead of “lose weight,” set a goal like “lose 10 pounds in three months” or “run a 5k in under 30 minutes.”
These specific goals help you see progress – and provide context for you and your coaches on the progress being made.
Attendance based goals especially when starting a new fitness program can be beneficial. Such as “attend 15 classes a month” – then break this down into each week. Week 1 attending 3 sessions, Week 2: 4 sessions – and so forth.
Measure
Without a way to measure your progress, it’s easy to lose motivation and direction. You need to know if you’re moving closer to your goal.
