Building a Weekly Workout Schedule

Do you find it challenging to stick to a consistent workout routine? Creating a weekly workout schedule can be your game-changer.

A well-structured workout plan is essential for achieving your fitness goals and maintaining overall health.

In this blog post, we’ll guide you on how to create a weekly workout schedule that balances cardio, strength training, flexibility, and recovery, ensuring you get the most out of your fitness journey.

Balancing cardio and strength training

Many individuals focus exclusively on one aspect of fitness, neglecting the other. This can lead to imbalances and hinder progress.  At OC, we work to balance conditioning or “cardio” while developing a person’s strength.

At OC we incorporate both “cardio” and strength training in a weekly plan that is part of a monthly plan.  This combination of both “cardio” and strength training improves overall fitness and helps burn fat while building muscle.

Furthermore, this allows a person to continue to see progress without getting burnt out or getting injured. Which is key if a person is attempting to build a long term healthy habit.

Incorporating flexibility and mobility exercises

Neglecting flexibility and mobility can result in injuries and limited range of motion, hindering your fitness journey.

Dedicated time in each hour-long training session(class) is spent using bands, and active stretching to build up flexibility and mobility without needing a separate training session.

At OC we utilize the warm up and the “finisher” at the end of each hour long session to improve and enhance flexibility, reduce the risk of injury and improve posture and balance.

Allowing for rest and recovery on Sundays

Overtraining without sufficient rest can lead to burnout and decreased performance. Design your schedule to include a rest day, such as Sunday. Rest and recovery are vital for muscle repair and overall well-being. Consider light activities like walking or gentle stretching on rest days.

Sunday is also a great day to ski or snowboard at the mountain or during the summer time get in a bike ride.  Informal activities outside are a great way to speed recovery and keep you fresh and motivated for the upcoming week.
